iPod Speakers

One of the best deals that we have seen for iPod Speakers is the Cta Digital IP-RS2 Ipod Round Speaker with Docking. All of the reviews tend to mention the excellent sound quality of the device which is at a very reasonable price point.

One reviewer writes..

I bought this unit so I could have background music during parties and other events at my house. When it's just me, I can crank it up and the sound is pretty good. At more moderate levels, it's excellent. I've tested it with heavy metal, classic rock, dance, jazz and ballads. As you will undoubtedly read when looking at similar product reviews, the bass is not very strong, but it's not supposed to be on an item of this price....

iPod Shuffle - Second Generation

The iPod Shuffle is a tiny MP3 player that is designed for music on the go. The user interface is simple to use as there is not a great deal of configuration that you can actually do with the iPod Shuffle. You can not easily navigate through songs or configure play lists etc. Its very simple one button operation.
You can read a CNET review Apple iPod Shuffle (second generation) here - they sum it up as..

If you like your music playback simple and your device nearly invisible, the second-generation iPod Shuffle will suit you well. But absentminded users should steer clear of this easy-to-misplace player.

The shuffle has an attractive price tag and is a great little player

Apple Ipod 80GB Generation 5.5

An 80GB Ipod can hold up to 20,000 songs - it holds up to 100 hours of video or up to 25,000 photos. These Ipods can play music for up to 20 hours so the battery life is great.

PC Mag have a review of this ipod the Video Ipod generation 5.5

The latest full-size iPod can be considered generation 5.5, since the interface and design improvements aren't nearly as drastic as they were from generation 4 to 5. The new model comes in 30GB and an ultra-roomy 80GB capacity. With the exception of the brighter screen, all the enhancements are in the firmware, including gapless playback, a new search feature, and support for better games (solitaire and Brick were getting pretty stale). And although the second-gen iPod nano now comes in a variety of colors, the full-size model is still limited to just black or white.

Not a lot has changed from the 30GB Video Ipod however theres over twice the storage capacity.

CNET had this to say about the Video Ipod 80GB

The amazingly low priced updated Apple iPod gets many under-the-hood improvements, but it's still not a true video player.

If you have had any experience with this model, please let us know your thoughts by way of a comment.

Video Ipod is fantastic for kids in the car

Your video ipod can be used by your kids if you are going on a trip. Its pretty simple to convert a DVD into a format that you can use on your ipod.

Looks like a windows version of the open source Handbrake will do the job, no GUI or anything, but beggars cannot be choosers. Heres the link to the handbrake forum that has all the info if you are interested. http://handbrake.m0k.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=210

This is the command line to run for future reference, some experimentation may need to be done with the output formats. hbtest.exe -i "H:\dvdtmp" -o h:\temp\hpot.mpg4 -e x264b13 -w 320 -l 240 -b 384 . The executable appears to scan the directory for the sound and video folders then starts doing its thing.
